Chapter 17: Mark's Provocation

Prisley turned the phone away, hiding her face from Mark.

"Nothing, just getting ready for bed."

"No, you’ve been crying." Mark's smile vanished. "Turn the screen around."

"I’m fine. Goodnight, Mark."

"If you don't turn it around, I'll come over right now." His tone left no room for argument.

Prisley had no choice but to show her face, trying hard to hide her sadness.

"Why are you crying again? You were fine at dinner," Mark said gently.

"Is it that jerk, Heather?"

Prisley's facade of strength crumbled under the gentle words, and she finally let out all her pent-up grievances. She cried for a long time before she finally stopped.

"Mark, thank you for being with me, but this is my problem. I can handle it. Please don't make any assumptions."

Not wanting to drag Mark into her mess, she quickly ended the video call after reassuring him.

Being humiliated and hurt by Filla for the third time. Enough! She was done being a good little kitten. She had her own claws and fangs.
