Chapter 23: Direct Confrontation

Heather hugs Prisley with a strange feeling.

He is usually so high and mighty. When does he start caring about her? Still, he involuntarily tightens his arms around Prisley, holding her tightly in an embrace.

Prisley hesitates for a moment, but does not resist. She is truly exhausted and lacks the strength to fight back.

"Heather," Prisley calls out softly.

"I'm here," Heather answers, burying his face in Prisley's neck.

"I'm tired. I just want a peaceful life. Please let me go." There is no hysteria, no shouting, but just a quiet request.

Prisley does feels tired. She feels her heart slowly breaking into pieces that can never be put back together again.

Heather unconsciously tightens his grip around Prisley's waist.

"You ask me to play the role of Filla, but I'm not her after all. I'm tired of acting. I just want to be myself. All the good impressions I give you are fake. That isn't me. The person you love is her... or rather, the fake version of me. The real me isn't lovable at all,
