Chapter30:  Surviving the Ordeal

The person seemed to be looking for someone, the sneakers moving left and right, until finally, they walked straight towards Prisley's car.

Prisley covered her mouth with one hand to stifle her scream, holding the pen knife in the other, ready to defend herself.

"Prisley - where are you - " a pleasant voice called out.

Prisley froze, not believing her ears.

When he called out again, she allowed herself to cry but was still too tense to speak.

The person in sneakers seemed to hear the sobbing.

"Prisley, is that you? Don't be scared, I'm coming."

When Mark saw Prisley, his heart broke into a thousand pieces.

She was curled up by the car, covered in blood, a shocking sight.

She looked like a frightened bird, shivering. She clutched the pen knife tightly, her eyes wide with fear and helplessness.

Mark approached her slowly, squatting down a few steps in front of her, looking into her eyes.

"Prisley, it's me, Mark. You're safe now. No one can hurt you anymore."
