Chapter 13

“I don’t know.” I murmured, “its been a while.”

“Try.” James snapped, pulling me from the bed. “We don’t have time for 'I don’t know'. You need to move.”

I stumbled and dropped into my knees, my legs swaying when I stood, unable to hold my own weight. I grunted as my back hit what looked like a stand, the strange metal holding the bed in the air, and though it seemed unstable it had held my weight just fine. I turned my head to look up at James and sighed, knowing that he required me to walk, but also that I couldn’t do so. Not after being bound to the bed for what felt like weeks, even as I knew it to be only days; after all, I wouldn’t be able to survive for weeks without food or water.
