The man in the dark

I rode crazily that night not minding where I was going and since it was late ,it wasn't that hard driving away .

Our town was a small town and almost everyone knew each other very well .

I didn't know how long that I had been driving but then I made sure that I was very far away from them , that's exactly what I needed at this moment ,I needed some space in my life .

I was getting sick and tired of thinking about what had just happened this evening .

The road I had packed my car in was a lonely road. I usually come here to cool off whenever I am angry and right now ,I was so mad at everything that was happening ,why would all of this be happening to me .

The tears , dad and mom words sank deeper into me and I let out all of the tears that I had been holding .

They couldn't do this to me .

I knew that even if I wanted to run away ,I wouldn't be able to do that as I would be caught the next day and most times I wonder how that is done .

"Sitting by the road ,it felt as if someone was watching me .

I knew I was scared of nothing,I had my self defense and I knew how to fight .

Turning to my left,I saw a young man .

From the light of the car ,I could see his broad chest and his curly hair. He wore a black ripped jeans and a top .

"Who was he and what was he doing here ,those were the thoughts that I had in my head .

The guy took slow strides towards me and getting to where I was he stopped .

"You know as a young lady you aren't supposed to be out by this time ,the village are already sleeping "

.I Turned to look at him mockingly ,what was he saying when he was definitely doing the same thing .

"I think I should be throwing that question to you strange guy ,what are you doing here at this time of the night and if I may ask ,I have never seen you in our village ,you don't look familiar .

"Well I visited a friend, '' he said and sat beside me on the road .

I didn't know if I should have talked with a stranger that I had just met in the middle of nowhere,but I knew that I couldn't stop doing it.

There was just something about this guy that seemed off but yet I felt extremely protected by just staying close to him and one thing I knew of ,was that my instincts were always right .

If your dad is the chief of this village then what is his precious daughter here at this time of the night ?"he asked curiously .

I turned to look at the guy with that sweet smile .

His shining blue eyed and white hair was the most unique thing about him .

He felt so powerful,I could feel that aria of authority around him but I didn't understand why .

."Is it fair ?" I asked looking at my new friend and letting out my tears but before I knew it he cleaned all of my tears .

"I really don't know what's you are going through but whatever that it's is ,you could share with me ,I might be of help you know "

"Well if you visited a friend then you must have Heard of our famous barbaric ritual ,I really don't know why my dad can't stop this and why my uncle is bent on me doing it "

"I just turned 20 today and I have been told that I have to join the ritual ,is that even fair at all , like why would they do something like that .

I don't know why ,but that ritual is barbarically and crazy b,I know that there's a demon or even still a beast lurking out there ,killing those girls that never returned and now my parents want me to enter it .

My father doesn't even care about his daughter ,he just wants to risk my life "

"You know what ,I hate my life and I also hate this family but I just don't care ,I am not getting into that God damn Forsaken ritual ,it's never happening, I am not going to risk my future for some piece of trash .

"You might be among the Lucky ones to return ,you really can't tell"...

And I also don't think that it's barbaric as you describe or even a demon or a beast someone , I just think that this is a treaty that must be followed and you know they are old traditions that are not to be joked with .

"Are you saying that I should put my evil thoughts aside ?" I asked.

"Am not saying that dear ,all I am saying is that you just let this be done with and stop making your parents sad .

"You ride out of the house tonight ,it's already 11 and I know they will be worried sick. .

You know what ,no matter what my parents wants me to do ,I would never make them this scared of something happening to me ,so if I were you ,I would just get into that car , ride back home ,get done with that piece of shit they asking me to do and believe that all of this would just be a nightmare.

The boys words ate deep into me and I had every reasons to believe that all he said was true ,I couldn't be selected right , after all I wasn't going to be the only girl there "

."Thank you "I whispered to him but Instead he stood up without replying to my greetings .

"I want to take my leave now "he said .

"Can I at least know your name ?" I asked him hoping for a reply .

The boy turned it, looked at me and smiled .

"You can call me Octavio " .

"Octavio ,thank you for your wonderful advice. When all of this is over I promise that I will pay a visit and my name is Avery ,I guess you already know but since you are my friend I would say that .

"Avery ,just get into the car .

"I kept quiet watching him and for a while ,I knew I wanted to be his friend,he was so cute .

The guy stood by my car and watched me enter and watch me drive off .But then who was he!
