Respite

MAGNUS’S POV

Luke hadn’t shown up for days and the cell was quieter than ever. I had waited for him to return so he would update me on what he had done again or what he was planning to do but he seemed to be so busy these days that he hadn’t been showing up to check on his captive which was me.

Three men were in front of my cell after the remaining ones left a few minutes ago, probably to get something to eat. I’ve been here for days already but I hadn’t tasted anything and I was starting to truly feel thirsty.

Seeing that the three men were busy chatting with each other, I looked at the wolfbane around me and I realized it had reduced so the effect would soon be reduced too. “Hey!” I called loudly and they turned their heads to look at me.

“What’s it?” One of them said coldly and I smiled.

“Can I get a cup of water? I’m thirsty.” I muttered and I saw their eyes twitch.

They grabbed the cell and stared at me for a while before they all turned to leave again without saying a word.
