Silver

I awoke to the golden glow of dawn seeping through the silk curtains that draped the grand soft bed. I remembered sleepily that I wasn't in my room. As I stretched beneath the plush blankets, my fingers reached out instinctively, searching for the warmth of my Magnus body, but they met only the cool emptiness of his side of the bed.

Confusion clouded my thoughts, and I blinked away the remnants of sleep as I propped myself up on my elbow. "Magnus?" I called out, my voice barely above a whisper since it was still early.

There was no response, he had to be in the bathroom then, I thought. I listened for sounds from that direction but heard none. The weight of an unsettling feeling pressed upon my chest as I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and rose to my feet, the sheer nightgown rustling softly around me.

I padded across the chamber, the cool marble floor chilling my bare feet, and pushed aside the heavy drapes that divided the window. I peered outside and couldn't see anything
