Forty one

HELAENA slammed the door of her trunk close, then she stood, taking in a lungful of air.

This was for the best, she told herself. She'd made the right decision. There was no use dragging it out. It was only going to end in disaster if she did.

She had wanted to hurt Sybil and had even brought a knife with her when she confronted her in the parking lot, but she hadn't been able to bring it out and do what her darkened heart told her to.

It wasn't worth it. Sybil dying was not going to bring Dian back to her, instead, it would be the opposite. It was better for her to leave this way, especially since she'd already confirmed that Sybil wasn't trying to take revenge on Dian.

Helaena walked to the door of her car and yanked it open, hesitating a bit as tears impaired her vision, making everything look blurry.
