Her claws sliced my face and nearly took out my eye. The wound was superficial and would heal soon, but I was so stunned that she tricked me so I tripped over my feet, fell and rolled over three times before my body stopped. Midi was on me in the next second and I yelled as her claws dug into my shoulders from behind. Now, my wolf was pissed. I rolled over to get her claws out of me. I knew it would really hurt and my flesh would get torn, but I did it anyway and then I let my wolf take over. I growled angrily as my paws hit the ground. I still felt the lingering pain in my shoulders from Midi’s claws digging into them, but it had mostly healed because of my shift from human to wolf.

It was no secret that I was a better fighter in wolf form and not just because of the enhanced senses of a wolf. My wolf just had this special connection with nature that seemed to be more than regular wolves. Sometimes, it was like I could feel every particle of air that got into my lungs, feel
