Chapter Seventeen

ALPHA RYDER'S POV

I slowly opened my eyes, blinking against the brightness of the morning light that flooded the room. As the darkness faded my consciousness arose like a ship breaking through heavy fog. The thumping ache in my head made it difficult to focus, but as my vision cleared, I realized I was lying on a bed that held memories of a different time.

I found myself lying weak on the soft bed, morning light casting gentle colors across the room. Confusion stirred in my mind as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. Where was I? How did I end up here?

Struggling against the weight of my exhaustion, I attempted to sit up, but a burning pain lanced through my skull, forcing me back down. Everything hurt as if I had been through a battle I couldn't remember.
