CHAPTER 42: A DEVIL’S PROMISE

KAIN’S POV:

She forces her eyes away from the hysterical Yvonne and back to me with much more confidence.

I admire the way she expertly covers her emotions in only seconds.

“What sick game are you playing at, Kain?” She’s quick to paint me as some evil mastermind again.

If it had been anyone else, I would find it annoying, sickening enough to want to rip out their tongue and force it down their throat — but I promised I wouldn’t hurt her.

I couldn’t even if I wanted to.

“This isn’t a game. I was already planning on dishing out a befitting punishment before you beat me to it, so I thought I’d pick at your brain myself.” I explain momentarily, enjoying that fear and doubt in her eyes.

“So pick a punishment, or I do it myself.”

She remains torn on what to do. She’s speechless, most likely doubting my claims.
