"What?" I exclaimed in astonishment, my eyes widening as I struggled to comprehend what Alpha Reynolds had just said about Adora.

"You got that straight, Kayla," he asserted. At that very moment, the door to my office swung open, and there she was, none other than Adora, with those adorable and gentle smiles that sent me spiralling into confusion and emotion.

"You'll be taking care of Adora at least until I come back from the business trip... is that clear?" He requested just to be sure that I heard him well.

Truth be told, I heard him perfectly, so well that at this point, it was looking like I was just dreaming, like I was just hallucinating.
