Reynolds' POV.

"You know Ava from somewhere, don't you?" I asked, and the moment I posed the question, I couldn't help but notice the sudden change in Kayla's demeanor.

She went from uncertainty to fear and shock, visibly stunned by my question, and it happened at the very moment we had just left the hospital, creating an added layer of tension in the air.

"I… I don't understand what you mean by that, Alpha Reynolds!" She kept on stuttering, her claims still that she didn't understand me.

At this point, I just wasn't sure how to spell it out for her anymore. 'How was I going to talk to her about Ava?'

"She…." I was going to keep explaining and trying my best to persuade Kayla into responding but just then, the loud ring of my phone pulled me off track.

It instantly made me turn around to look at my phone and lifting it up to my face, I suddenly realised that it was Beta Luke.

"Why is he calling?" I asked inwardly, my gaze fixed on the phone briefly before responding to his call.
