Christophe groans as I place him on the counter of the bathroom sink. John helped me walk him through the house, disappearing once Chris was settled. Something about recon, he said. He has a habit of disappearing.

I wring the clothe I'm holding under the water. The blood on his face has dried somewhat, crusting in corners. I don't think about Will, and where he is. Or the giant wolf crushing me into the ground.

I bring the clothe to Christophe's face, gently wiping the blood off. He hardly flinches when I go over his cuts. I don't mention how I can see the skin slowly stitching itself together. I think deep down, I still can't process it. The sheer magic of these people in my life.
