031. “No amount of money will buy my conscience.” He said defiantly.

BECKY’S POV

This bartender was surely joking. Does he know who I am? Surely, this people joked with their jobs and I wouldn’t want to fire this one unnecessarily. I spoke in a low tone with a naughty smile playing across my face.

“Hey, I’m going to give you some money. Can we sort this out?” I offered.

“No amount of money will buy my conscience.” He said defiantly.

I smiled and tried again. “I can pay you twenty times your salary right now.” I was ready to do that, wanted to show him who’s boss.

He smiled and answered. “No darling, thanks… my work is enough. Now, if you don’t mind, there are other people that probably need non – alcoholic drinks at this hour. Excuse me.”

He placed a cup of coca cola with ice blocks in it in front of me. Now, it was no longer funny; I was getting infuriated.

I looked at my watch and realized I was angry already. I spun the chair a hundred and eighty degrees to see the people seated in the bar; no one had come to the table, I would have been noticed.
