Alicia and I just sat outside on the chairs by the pool, taking in the fresh breeze of the early evening when we heard a scream.

We’d been bored, with nothing to do all afternoon. Without due dates getting closer and closer, it felt like we were carrying the whole world in our bellies.

“When this baby comes out, I’m going to leave the kids with Henry and run away to another country. That’s payback for leaving me alone for all this while.”

We laughed.

‘I’m sure he’ll understand. You deserve a break.”

‘We deserve breaks. I feel like I'm carrying more than one kid in my belly. I really hope it's not twins, I might actually cry.”

“No, I'd love for them to be twins. It would be so lovely to be their aunt.”

She gave me the stink eye.

“Of course, it will be lovely. You’re not the one carrying them, how about you give birth to twins too and I carry them?”

“No, I'm sure this child will be a boy. Just one boy, I'm sure of it.”
