It almost went past me but I heard it.

It wasn't easy for the people from the pack to stop calling me Alpha. Even though we'd been here for almost two years, they were still used to the habits. I walked out into the blinding afternoon sun that was the highest point in the sky. It had been extra sunny these few days and I couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong. It was getting closer to winter and it was still so sunny.
