Chapter 29

“Where are we going?”

I asked when Hugo woke me up in the middle of the night. He was wearing a casual outfit while Hunter was taking some clothes from my closet. “What are you guys doing?” I was confused for the whole minute until Hugo answered.

“We need to go somewhere safe. Your father told them where to find us and we need to keep you and our babies safe, okay?” He was panting, gasping as if both of them just came home from a long run.

I couldn’t understand what they meant but I decided to follow. All of us went quiet when we rode the car, Hunter was beside me in the backseat. My eyes widened in shock when Hugo handed him a gun, both of them holding guns while the car ran.

“Do you really need that?” They didn’t give me an answer so I remained quiet. A few more minutes and the car ride went smooth and silent. We were alone on an empty road when a gunshot was suddenly heard. I flinched because of shock but I was sure it wasn’t targeting our car, it was the car behind us.
