Chapter 15 A kind gesture

Julian was having a quiet time when she heard the horn of a car drive in. everyone was in the house but Oswald and so, she knew he was the one coming in. She looked up wanting to catch a glimpse of him but she saw him along with someone else. It was Tess, Oswald knew Julian wouldn’t want to see Tess but he had to bring her after all, she was going to be his future wife. Tess bought a few gifts to be given to Julian.

The maid carried the gifts Julian but she said to her,

“You can’t have them even though I don’t need them. Throw these rubbish into the dustbin where they belong.”

Oswald wasn’t happy with this and said to Julian,

“You can’t do that, why are you refusing someone’s kind gesture. That’s not like you, grandma.”

“Oh but she was kind enough to drive my granddaughter in law out her home. And you expect me to be kind to accept a kind gesture from this kind of woman? No thank you.”

Tess suddenly started crying, Oswald looked at his grandmother angrily but she looked away unconcern
