Alexander paced around, and fury almost choked him as he lashed out at his guard for being careless enough to let Victoria and her daughters out of their sight.

"You bloody bastards! How could you let her travel without my permission? I explicitly told you to keep an eye on her. Can't you at least do something right in your lives?"

They bowed their heads shamefully. Although Alexander knew his wife was cunning and would find a way to do whatever she wanted, he still needed to assign blame to someone.

When he returned from his trip to the northern region and discovered that someone was actively seeking ways to expose Iris and gathering information about her family, he warned Victoria not to entertain her.

"But darling, we need to find a way to get Iris out of there. He could kill her. The lady assured me that she would protect Iris, but first she needed to determine whether her suspicions were correct.”
