My body froze mid-movement, and I felt an uncontrollable shudder sweep through me when the matron announced that we had to go through a final check on our wolf form.

Yikes.

I didn't know what to do, and I was running short of options. The doctors were on their way to ensure that our wolves were healthy and without any abnormalities.

The last time we'd been told to do a wolf shift, I had lied and stayed in the sick bay. But I couldn't pull that stunt again; the matron would suspect something was off, especially since Adonis had told her that he'd picked me, so she would want my examination to be thorough.

My brain was a mess. What could I say or do? I couldn't just walk out of there because the other contestants were already heading towards the examination room, chatting and laughing like they didn't have a care in the world.

"Please let the doctors not come," I said under my breath, begging the moon goddess to let them have an emergency.
