Chapter 28: Alpha Calle

When I saw Daphne fall from the landslide, my whole world seemed to collide as well.

Before my sanity snapped, I raced toward the river edge, ready to transform back into human form. But no matter how quickly I could do that, the time between life and death was faster. The mass of huge rocks slammed into the river, causing it to be blocked. The water spilled to the edges, seeking another route. But there was no sign of Daphne.

"Daphne!" Dark and I growled in unison.

No, I couldn’t afford to lose my mate!

I was ready to jump over the cluster of massive rocks when something landed in front of me. My eyes stretched wide when I saw a white wolf. Its coat was extremely glossy, as though it were made of thousands of stars in the sky.

For a moment, I froze. But when the air brought its scent in my direction, all my senses came back to life.

" Daphne, it’s you." I hoofed over towards her. After a few sniffs, we snuggled with each other.

"Yes, it’s me," she said with a whimper.
