I had just entered the station and sat down to enjoy my cup of coffee and popped in my ear buds when Sergeant Combs came up to my desk, “LaFlamme, look alive.” I sat straight up and my coffee took a dive off my lap and landed square on the Sargent’s perfectly shined boots. We were halfway there when I looked over at Emery who was as silent as a church mouse. This wasn’t like him and I could smell the nervousness rolling off of him. “Hey man, what’s got you so damn quiet?” I nudged him with my elbow. Alpha Dalton’s POVMy whole body aches as I sit up in bed. I heard Nicklaus come through the mind link, “Dalton, there is an issue over near the lake. We need you ASAP.” He sounded worried which was not super unusual the case for my beta. Alpha Daltons POVI was running so hard and the anger inside me was so consuming that I missed the trail to Green Cove. I circled back and ran down the trail where I saw my Beta and Gamma sitting on the lake bank behind some large bushes. Aside from her eyes being gouged out, every single one of her teeth was missing. A few years back I had been to a crime scene where the person’s teeth were missing and it was discovered that people who do this do not want you to be able to identify the body in any way possible. It made me cringe just thinking about it. This time on the way out of the state park I was driving and all I could think about was that poorly mangled girl and that I could feel eyes on me the whole entire time. Tyler’s POVI finally reached home and sat in the driveway for a minute. I stared up at the farm style house with awe and smiled. This career has landed me with so many amazing things that I never would have even to begin to dream of. If I could get the detective position I would have everything. Tyler’s POV Those red eyes. They were like two blood moons staring me down, but I couldn’t help but feel like I wanted to keep staring. I needed to keep staring.
