Aurora:

“Thank you” I said, smiling at the old man who handed me my hot chocolate.

I pulled my wallet out of my bag to pay him only for Dante to wrap an arm around my waist, sending shivers down my spine, and handing the man his card, paying for it. I looked up at him and shook his head at me, he motioned for me not to say a word about it.

He nodded at the man before pulling me away before I could respond in front of the cashier and the people who were waiting in line; however, I couldn’t help but notice that he kept his arm around me for a few more seconds before letting go “a proper man does not let a woman pay when he’s invited her out”

“I wasn’t going to say anything”

“I could see a thousand comments and remarks in your eyes; there’s no need to play that innocent game” he teased, making me laugh. The two of us walked around the busy streets of New York, not saying a word. The lights around us flashed on the billboards and we could hear music playing in the distance as a few kids
