Diego:

“Are you okay?” I asked, looking at Lea who looked like she just saw a ghost. She looked at me for a second too long before forcing out a breath that she held.

“I-I’m fine,” she stuttered, and I shook my head. I knew that she wasn’t, her stuttering gave her out more than I could already read her body language. But I could tell that Renata shook her up.

“I think a cup of water should do the trick…”

“I will manage, Alpha,” she said, stopping me. “Thank you.”

“Lea, you don’t need to be afraid of her harming you. I am going to speak to her my way.” I said, and she nodded before taking a step back. I looked down at the kitchen knife which Renata had dropped, and I couldn’t help but find myself shaking my head at that. My wolf grew anxious and the mating bond didn’t make seeing my mate in such a state any easier. “I was going out with Giovanni, but I am guessing that we could postpone that for a while if you need company.”

“I am fine,” she said, and I nodded.
