Chapter 19

Lea:

I took a deep breath as I heard Renata walking out of Diego’s room, momentarily regretting the fact that I didn’t lock the door like he suggested.

However, to my surprise, the woman didn’t even approach the door.

The woman just seemed to walk past without saying a word, and after a few minutes of silence, I was able to relax as I got up from the edge of the bed where I was sitting, lost in the number of thoughts that I had in mind.

I walked to the door and locked the door, knowing not to test my luck.

My chest ached, and a heavy feeling settled inside it as I wrapped my fingers around my mother’s necklace. It was the one thing that I had left of her, and I knew that it was the one thing that I ever will have from her.

I lost her way too early to remember anything about her, but her smile was one thing that I knew to never forget. The love that her and my father had for one another was another thing that I knew to be forever envious about. The man didn’t even bother finding an
