Part Twenty-Seven

I regained consciousness and felt the searing pain in my back as someone cut me open and pressed down on my shoulder blades as I tried to move. I could feel the bullet being taken out and I had no idea where I was.

“Stop moving you idiot, I’m trying to help you,” Octavia said.

“Octavia?” I questioned.

“Who else would be out here trying to save your sorry ass?” she asked me.

I gritted my teeth as she dug the other two bullets out and I had clenched my jaw as she made the cuts where my body had healed over the bullets. I felt the relief as the bullets were taken out and my healing kicked in once again.

“How did you find me?” I asked her.

“Kane somehow spoke to me,” she said.

She helped me into a sitting position as Kane licked over my wounds, helping to seal them. I’d been closer to death tonight than I had ever been before. She’d shot me in the back, Samantha had shot me. It was as if my mind couldn’t grasp that reality.

“What happened?” Octavia asked me.

“I was betrayed, just like you
