“Adam?” I stuttered. “You scared me” He just stood there not moving, his face in shadow. I moved forward slowly until I was within arm’s reach.
“Adam?” I was starting to feel uneasy. Then he stepped forward, and the light hit his face, which was set in fury.
“Do you know how long it took me to get there, Kaeleigh?” He moved towards me again and I backed away. He stopped and a slow smile played across his face.

Even though the Alpha had given me an explanation for my apparent Alpha status, I could tell that he wasn’t being completely honest. (Kaeleigh’s POV)Family breakfast was in the private dining room for the Alpha on the same floor. The whole floor was set aside for the Alpha and his family, including a few guest rooms designed for visiting Alphas.I dragged my heels a little as we walked round the halls into the main living area, which consisted of a large living room, dining room and den. To one side was what looked like a study which looked full of books. The whole place was decorated in muted shades of browns, greens and golds with dark wood furniture.
