“I am proud of you, I must say.”

Karl expressed his feelings through the mind link.

“But?”

I sensed the reprimand coming so I didn't wait for it. I asked him without letting his unexpected praise get into my head.

Karl responded, “There is no but.” My eyes furrowed, suspecting my wolf beast, but eventually, he added, “I was just thinking, you could have told her about your real identity and the hidden bond before you left bed earlier.”

I rolled my eyes and pushed the guilt my wolf beast was creating within me down to the lowest and darkest part of my mind. I focused on staring at Zadie’s surprised face.

“Are you sure about this?”

Zadie asked me after her sister ended the call, saying she had a lot to prepare for us. I smiled at my mate and nodded my head even though I wasn't ready to face Alpha Calvin or even sit at the same table as him.
