I looked out the window again for the hundredth time since I checked the time and realize it was past 6:00 pm.

Ayden was running late and Emaline was blaring my phone with calls which I knew was because she wanted to make sure we were still down for dinner by 7:00 pm.

But I ignored her calls.

Could Ayden have changed his mind?

If he did, would I be mad at him or would I be relieved that he would be out of Alpha Calvin’s presence?

I would be relieved. Mostly. I mean, I wouldn't have to worry about Ayden getting insulted and maltreated. I wouldn't want him to be treated like that when Regina had been nothing but kind to me.

However, I would be mad. Equally. I wouldn't want my sister to be disappointed. Emaline must have done a lot of work to prepare for tonight and I was certain Alpha Calvin wouldn't forgive her if my so-called warrior mate stood him up at the dining table.
