38. Never Felt Lonelier

After what seemed like forever, I finally cleared my throat and welcomed the man my best friend has been ogling.

“Hello, Beta Jaxon. What can we offer you today?”

I strolled to him and urged him to come into the diner. As I said, he was definitely not our first customer for the day. If he was interested in taking anything, it would be Chloe.

Ever since he opened the door to the diner, his eyes have been on her just like her eyes have been on him and it wasn't shocking when he responded by saying, “I actually came here for her, Zadie.”

Stupidly, Chloe blurted, “Why will you be here for me? Did the Alpha King send you here for–”

I backed away into a corner and watched the both of them step closer to each other like their body was being controlled by some telepathic strings.

“Actually, he didn't send me here. And I had a fight with him before I could come here. I didn't properly introduce myself yesterday and I might have hidden a part of me from you.”
