Chapter Twelve

When I woke up there was a little noise in the room that I thought there was a rally going on inside of my head. I tried to get up with my eyes still closed but rough hands held me back in place.

"Lay back. You need rest." A voice whispered softly to me.

Leo.

That was his voice and after a moment, I felt him walk away from me. I could make out his conversation with someone in the room.

"She's awake, Doctor." I heard him say.

What Doctor?...

"Don't let her get up. Just make sure she continues to rest, because she needs it for the medicine to work well." A hoarse voice said, and I assumed it belonged to the so-called Doctor.

I flipped open my eyes and I saw Leo standing beside a tan skinned man in white clothing. He was holding a file and they both seemed pretty engulfed in it that none of them noticed I had opened my eyes.
