Two days ago.
"Not again" Sophie moaned sadly as some little boys in chains were ushered in by her father's soldier.
They were the victims of her father's raid. His future soldiers. That was how he had been executing unsanctioned raid on weaker packs.
Sophie was nearly in tears as she watched the innocent boys. She had tried speaking to her father to stop the raids but he wouldn't listen.
"Sophie, Sophie" Alpha Nolan, Sophie's father called weakly.
She looked up and saw her father being walked in by two of his soldiers supporting him on both sides.
"I'm dying, Sophie" he cried out.
Sophie was astounded. Her father rarely arrived in this state. He was wounded and dying Despite not being in support of his raids, she wouldn't leave him to die.
"To his room" she said hastily to the soldiers helping him.
He was really dying like he said. From his eyes, she deduced he must have been struck by Silverette, his own weapon.
Silverette was liquid silver mixed with blood to flow easily within its victims system. It was always in syringes.
It was masterminded by her father, once a shot is injected into anyone. There is no remedy. The victim must surely die.
Luckily, Sophie was a healing wolf. She could stop any death with her powers. That was what Alpha Nolan relied on.
Sophie rushed after them into her father's room.
"Lay him on the bed" she said loudly.
The soldiers did as she instructed. She rushed to her father's side and bent over him. She didn't really have to do anything than summoning Prina, her wolf.
"Argh!" she made both her hands into fists and groaned hard.
But Prina refused to take over her as she wanted.
"Prina!!" she cried loudly. She had become unsettled with the way her father was gasping.
But Prina had refused to respond yet.
"Take it easy" Alpha Nolan held her hand and said softly. "You don't need to force it. Just go on. It is natural" he seemed to know Sophie better than herself.
She nodded in agreement. She tore his sleeve to reveal the wound on his arm. Dark thick blood dripped from his arm.
The Silverette must have mixed with most of his blood.
She placed both her hands on it and waited as her father had instructed. But nothing happened.
She shook her head and started crying. Her father was going to die if she didn't do anything right away.
"Concentrate, Sophie, concentrate" Alpha Nolan cautioned her.
"She is not responding" she cried.
"Just do what you do!" Alpha Nolan was obviously losing his life with his cool.
Sophie placed her hand on the wound with no hope of anything happening.
She suddenly felt the rise within her. Prina was awake.
"Prina?" a tear dropped from her eye. She was now happy though.
She inhaled hard while her father kept groaning on the bed. After some minutes, he stopped and dozed off.
Sophie removed her hands. The Silverette had flown out of his body. She smiled, stood up from his side, leaving him to sleep.
She thought this experience might have taught him what he needed to know to change his ways. They would discuss that once he woke up.
An hour later, Sophie went to check on her father. He was awake and sitting on his bed. He was obviously feeling fine. One could argue he was dying some minutes ago.
"That is a lot of boys" Sophie said from the doorway.
"Yes, future soldiers. Once they are groomed, you will think they are not the weak boys you saw today" Alpha Nolan chuckled. He was obviously feeling pleased.
"I'm sure they are nothing compared to the numbers of those that are killed by you and your men" Sophie said to make him feel guilty. It would be strange if he really reacted as she wanted. She had never seen him in remorse.
"It is a war, my daughter" he smirked. "We lose people, they lose people. And luckily we won" he defended himself.
"Except that it isn't. You took advantage of them" she let out straight. She walked in to the room to be closer to him.
"Tell me, Sophie. Which do you prefer, others, taking advantage of us or we, taking advantage of others?" he stretched forth both his hands for her.
"No. We can all live without taking advantage of each other. You have already created a stronghold that no one would dare. When are you going to stop oppressing the weak?" she said sadly.
"Until I am the most powerful Alpha, uncontroversial Alpha" he confessed.
Alpha Nolan was completely power drunk and wasn't hiding it anymore.
"You should rest now. Not until when others see you as a threat and gang up against you" she warned.
"No one can stop me. I'm unstoppable" he boasted.
"Alpha Nemesis is watching, you should know that" she coughed.
Alpha Nolan laughed loudly for some moment.
"Don't you people know that Alpha Nemesis and me are the same? We have the same goals, but he get the support while everyone including my own daughter is against me" he laughed again.
"No. He is not like you. He goes after people like you. He does not want all what you crave for. You sack pack, put fear in them and take tribute from them. Alpha Nemesis kills wicked Alpha like you" Sophie believed that was the truth. Her father knew that but was only avoiding it to justify himself.
"You know, your mother was once like you" Alpha Nolan retorted.
"Stop before it's too late" she warned again. "You almost die today" she moaned.
"Clear Alpha Nonsenses or whatever from your mind. He only fights the war he knows he can win. He will never come near me. I'm not his match. And what happened today, I will make sure I get to the bottom of it. Matt is already on it" he seemed to be getting angry as his voice grew intense.
"Father, just...." she cried.
".....Sophie, how old are you?" he interrupted her.
"Twenty one" she replied quickly.
"Twenty one and ten months, less than sixty days to your twenty two birthday" Cassandra, Sophie's mother said suddenly, she had entered unnoticed.
"Almost four years, that you should have found your mate. I think you should focus more on that more than my raids" Alpha Nolan erupted.
Sophie left the room without saying a word. She felt very sad. She had been longing to find her mate. Her parents were not helping but denouncing.
"There is a man out there, waiting to see you. He won't say anything unless unless you are there" David narrated, anger was audible in his voice. The said person seemed to have provoked him in some ways"Who is he?" Alpha Jones asked slowly. He was not expecting anyone and the Mage did not foresee any visitor."I have no idea, Alpha" David replied curtly and headed back out.Alpha Jones followed him to the throne room. He saw Matt, standing gallantly with his chest rising high everytime he breathed in. He was a man that seemed to have gone through a lot."Alpha Nemesis?" Matt gasped."That is not his name" David voiced out angrily."I'm Alpha Jones" Alpha Jones waved at David to calm him down. He sat down on his throne staring inquisitively at Matt."I'm Matt from Alpha Nolan's pack" he said without regulating his intense breath."I've heard a lot about your Alpha, why are you here?" Alpha Jones asked calmly."You've heard a lot? Then why are you still seated there not doing anything?
Present day.Sophie woke up in a dark cell after she felt water splashing over her. She sat up immediately. She was in shackles, she realized that as she tried moving her hands and legs. She was on the bare floor. She looked up and saw two fierce guards standing over her. Last night's experience flooded into her memory.Prina was hot with anger. She could feel her trying to override her. But she kept calm. One of the guards removed her shackles and pulled her up.Prina had finally taken over her. "Argh!" Sophie groaned hard, clenching her fist. She knew well that fighting now was not a good idea but it was too late. She headbutt the guard close to her. He fell flat on his back. He seemed weak to Sophie but he couldn't help him. This was Prina's time. She grabbed the other one and threw him to the wall. She dashed out of the cell. She felt a heavy blow at the back of her head. She fell on her face. Prina cowered and shrunk from the surface. She turned slightly to see her beater. It w
Alpha Jones walked in hurriedly. He was unsettled. He felt bad a bit about the decision he made but that was the right thing to do, he consoled himself. Sophie shouldn't be left with her wolf. She was dangerous and she would just be like her father. But the Moon Goddess was just a poor matchmaker, to have made someone like her his mate. Alpha Jones had vowed never to take any mate. Even if she was the best in all ramifications. To him, love was a weakness and a tendency to make bad decisions. It would distort judgement. And that wouldn't be good for the cause he had chosen to fight for. If he dwelled in love, he might become one of those he used to fight against. That was always his thoughts. Luckily, he had never ran into any mate until Sophie. He was certain she was the one. The expulsion of her wolf made Gate, his wolf writhed in pain but he would survive it. They would survive it. He turned around on hearing footsteps. He saw David coming in with a big smile on his face.
"Just follow me" David insisted.Sophie walked after him reluctantly. She had just gotten to the slaves' quarters after the horrible experience. She had accepted her fate and decided to make the best use of it.She retired to the slave's quarters immediately and now David had come to bother her again."Alpha Jones wants to see you, maybe you should walk like your legs are not older than your age" he said to her without looking back.Sophie caught up with him. She was optimistic. She thought Alpha Jones might have wanted to confess his feelings."Why does he want me?" she asked anxiously."He doesn't 'want' you" David emphasized. "He only wants to see you and you can ask him yourself" he shunned her."Okay" Sophie sighed and kept quiet. David seemed to have already seen her mind through her eyes. They continued walking to the throne room. Sophie's heart leapt on each step taken by her.Her eyes fell on Alpha Jones as they entered into the throne room. She kept looking at him to make h
Sophie was taken outside to the quarters. There were a lot of people there coming out of the small rooms. They were the slaves of the pack and she had become one of them. She felt ashamed as they all made her the center of their attention. All eyes were on her. She stood there cluelessly not knowing where to head."Just make yourself useful" a woman said in an unfriendly manner.Sophie didn't respond. She just kept staring at her. She wondered what they were doing or what they were supposed to be doing.Someone tapped her from behind. She turned around and meet the eyes of a smiling older woman. The woman veered off and signaled to Sophie to follow her. "I am Wendy, I am in charge of this place" she smiled at her briefly."I am...." Sophie thought it was the right time to introduce herself."....Sophie" Wendy interrupted her. "David told me about you" she stopped and held her to a halt."What am I supposed to be doing?" Sophie questioned. Though, she was already getting bored but th
In the middle of the night.Sophie was wide awake. She couldn't sleep. Her recent memories kept haunting her. Alpha Jones walking majestically into their house. Prina being sent out of her. Everything was tragic and daunting. She gazed at her roommates from the top of the bunk where she was. They were all asleep. This was the perfect time to try making an escape. It would have been easier if she had Prina. Nevertheless, she had to make use of what she had left, her training. She got down from the bed slowly and quietly not to alert the others. She sneaked out of the quarter."Oh no!" she moaned and fell back inside.Everywhere was crawling with security guards. There was no way she could get out of here without being caught. But she had to. David had let her know how worse it could get. And she wouldn't want to experience that. She popped her head outside to calculate the security guards movement. She could be lucky."Are you trying to escape or run away, which of the two are you tryi
Alpha Jones got out of his room and headed into the throne room. It was a cold morning. He wanted to get ready for the day's training. He heard footsteps coming in. It was David, carrying a bag covered with dirt. It looked wet and heavy. The smiles on David's face was ironic to the bag in his hand. He grew in happiness every time he moved an inch closer to Alpha Jones. He stopped right in front of him, without saying a word. He overturned the bag and something fell on to the ground heavily. Alpha Jones noticed some blood stain on the bag. He quickly looked down. It was a head, Alpha Nolan's head.David could be brutal sometimes. He had killed him and severed his head. He brought it to Alpha Jones."That was fast" Alpha Jones scoffed."I acted on instinct. I thought he might be making move to regain his power over his pack and I was right" he smiled broadly."Then our mission there is completed. We need to find more like him" Alpha Jones asserted."Yeah, but I don't think I will be th
Sophie was served some food. She couldn't eat it. She was very afraid to trust Maggie not after what Cara did. Maggie could do worse, and still be justified."Why are you not eating your food? Lost your appetite?" Maggie challenged her."I can't eat this" she said with a muffled voice."Low to your standard?" Maggie chuckled."Why am I not dead yet?" Sophie mumbled."Because I am not going to kill you" Maggie chuckled. "If that is what is bothering you. It is high time you free your mind" she advised.Sophie couldn't believe her. That was the last thing she would. Maggie wouldn't let her live after all what her father had done to Maggie. He banished her for talking against him. And since then she had become a rogue. No pack would want to associate with a rogue. It was one of the worst experiences a werewolf could have."Why won't you kill me? If you don't, thinking I will assist you in getting my father. You are making a mistake" Sophie made it known to her.She thought she was just t
