The First Step

Betty stood in front of Ella’s house for the second time to see her. She knocked and knocked and this time, Ella responded and opened the door. Betty had been trying to get through to Ella for days since their last encounter after the night of the Wedding anniversary of Tom and Heather.  

Ella had complained of Betty standing her up to be with Raul and accused her of cheating. Since then, she kept away from Betty and focused on other matters. So, Betty had been coming to apologize but Ella had refused to let her but on this day, she decided to hear her out.

Betty entered the house and sat on the couch next to her. Ella was silent. She sat on the couch, holding the Tv remote and watching a show on television like nobody was there with her.
