Chapter Six

As I got home, I set my bag down on the bed and sat in the chair next to it, my mind racing. I was so distracted that I didn't hear the growl until it was almost in my ears. I jolted and turned to cast the magic spell I had in mind, but instead I found myself staring at my dejected sister. Her eyes were shining, making them appear more yellow-orange, yet her slouching on the floor did not convey the feelings in her eyes. Her expression was ferocious, as if she wanted to murder me for some reason. No matter how much I stayed away from her, she continued to sniff the air around me. I wondered if she had intended to kill me after noticing that I hadn't slept here the previous night.

My back smacked the wall, yet I still felt like backing up some more. For the time being, Alee seemed like a predator, and I felt like prey. She sat there for a long time, her eyes glistening as she gazed at me. Her eyes eventually stopped blazing, and she sagged to the ground. I wanted to assist her, but I was paralyzed by what had just transpired. She turned her head to look at me, and I could recognize her eyes.

“Where were you last night?” she asked.

I felt my jaw drop open. She has never spoken since Mom and Dad passed away. It's progress, but something in me wondered what made her speak up.

“I was at work.” I croaked and tried clearing my throat.

“I missed you,” she said, her eyes watering while staring at me.

It dawned on me what she meant. She thought that I would never come back, just like our parents never came back. Damn, that stupid prince. He deserves to die for making Alee cry. I would have to devise a way to kill him, I thought. I wrapped my sister in my arms and held her while she cried. I cried too. But I don't know why I'm crying. I'm guessing it's because Alee started crying and can't seem to stop crying. Or maybe it's because you will never get to see the prince again except if he's dead, something said within me. I shushed whatever it was and continued crying with Alee.

“I will never leave you, Alee. I promise.” I said it, and I meant it.

That night, I prepared her favorite meal and told her everything that happened at school except Alpha Mason and me dreaming about the prince, which is really stupid because I never did that. Alee wrote her questions, and I was disappointed. I thought we had gone past that, but I guess she needs more time.

I lay in bed that night, trying to think of ways to murder the prince. I tried to picture killing him, but all I could think of was kissing him. I finally gave up because I was so annoyed and went to bed. I had a lovely dream that night that made me happy. Though I'm not sure why, I believe I teleported out of the house. I suppose the mind might only wish, but it makes no difference if it does.

In my dream, I believe I saw the prince, who gave me a close embrace. I gave him a hug as well, since I didn't want to let go. I overheard someone remark that he wanted to keep me forever, but it wasn't time yet since he didn't want to let go. I had been wondering why it would occur when we were so happy. As that timeless kiss took place, I recall the prince trying to take it farther, but he stopped short. He stopped me from insisting, which I believe I was doing. I believe that I changed into a wolf, but that is improbable. I have my dragon fire, and I am a witch. I can't possibly be a tribrid. That just doesn't exist, right?

When I woke up, I was in my underwear, and Alee sat on the floor close to my bed. I screamed and covered myself in my blanket. Alee rolled her eyes and started to leave, but then she stopped and said,

“I don't know what kind of work you do that makes you come back in your underwear wearing double scents, but it seems shady to me. Please, stop it. I don't like it.”

“What happened last night?” I asked

“I don't know. I heard that sound you make whenever you disappear and I was surprise. When I came in, you weren't there. But around this morning, you appeared on the bed in your underwear. When I asked where you were, you were mumbling like someone still in slumber, and now, you wake up screaming like there's a male in the room,” she said, rolling her eyes at the same time.

“I'm sorry.” I mumbled.

“See you,” she said as she crawled away from my room.

Being Alee today, Alpha Mason followed me everywhere. I was very irritated by that and tried to hide every time I saw him, but he found me each time. How is that even possible? I asked myself. I blame the moon goddess for gifting me with two different males as mates. I know he isn't my mate because I can't feel the connection he feels for me. But as to why he thinks I am, that is still a mystery. I know I would have been more irritated, but a certain boy enrolled in school, and he was introduced this morning.

In the first period, he kept staring at me for a while. He never approached me, but he seemed familiar and different at the same time. He had unruly brown hair that he tied to his neck and green eyes like a serpent. He's average in height, but his gait, how he stares at me intensely, and how he moves his hand through his hair made him seem too familiar for my liking. At a point, Alpha Mason bumped into him and whispered into his ears. Whatever Alpha Mason said must have pissed him off, because he just got up and stormed out of the cafeteria.

“Somebody must be having a rough time,” Emily said.

“What did Alpha Mason say to him?” I asked.

“You didn't hear him?” She said this while raising an eyebrow.

“I mean, I wasn't really listening.” I said.

It would be hard to explain to them that I am not a werewolf and I don't have super hearing.

“You are weird, you know. When I met Emily, I couldn't leave her for a minute. But you are different. You don't act like you have a mate while Alpha Mason would be growling and getting restless every time you leave him.” Randy said this while staring at me.

“I was wondering that too. I wanted to have Randy to myself every fucking time, but you...you have so much self-control.” Emily replied.

I chuckled and started stuffing my mouth with food. Why was I gifted with two males? I thought to myself. I already told Alpha Mason this, and it doesn't seem like he's told his pack. I won't tell either because I am as confused as he is. But then a thought occurred to me. What if it's my destiny to kill the prince, who is my fake mate, and then I am gifted with Alpha Mason? With that in mind, I decided to kill the prince tonight. For a second, I looked up and locked eyes with the green-eyed fella. For a while, we stared at each other until he broke eye contact and left the cafeteria. I shook myself and continued to stuff my mouth with food. I felt like I would likely eat too much today.

“Did you notice that?” Emily said.

“I did.” Randy said, and something in her voice made me look up at her, only to find her glaring at me.

I raised an eyebrow, and she got up from her seat and left the cafeteria.

“Look, Alejandra. Alpha Mason is my alpha, and I don't understand what is happening between you two, but whatever you are thinking, don't do it. I will always be loyal to my alpha, and I hate it when others can't appreciate what's been given to them. Alpha Mason is handsome and strong, and he can provide for you, so I advise that you stop being moon-eyed at some guy who was admitted to this school just today.”

I stared at her for a while and said,

“What are you talking about?”

"Oh, shut up. Our alpha is suffering, and all you can say is, What are we talking about? You know what? You make me sick.” She got off the seat and ran off, going outside the cafeteria the same way her mate left through.

I blinked my eyes and thought, "You would understand if you were in my position. I stood up from the seat, suddenly losing my appetite, only to see Alpha Mason standing at my back. I rolled my eyes and folded my arms.

"Oh, mighty one, what do you want?”

For a while, he stood there, looking at me. He took a step towards me, and I took one back. He took two steps towards me, and I took two steps back. We were at it until he backed me to a bench that I stumbled on when the back of my knees hit it. He held me from falling by putting his arms around my waist while I got my bearings. For a while, he stared into my eyes. He leaned towards me, and I shut my eyes. I felt his breath on my neck, as if he wanted to mark me. I panicked, but before I could push him away, someone pulled him away, and I fell onto the bench.

I scowled and got up from the bench, wanting to scream at the person in question, but met angry green eyes. He stared at me for a while, and I was frozen. For a while, we were in our own world until someone growled and pushed him. My first instinct was to scream at Alpha Mason, but I held myself back in time. What is happening to me, I asked myself. Do I have three mates now? Why is the moon goddess so cruel to me? I felt like crying and brawling. Curse you, universe, I muttered. Not watching the growling males in front of me, I took my bag and left the cafeteria.
