Chapter Sixteen

The air was really suffocating. I could hardly swallow my sandwich and Alee was eating awkwardly. She was gripping her spoon while trying to sip a strawberry. I'm sure she doesn't know that she had a strawberry on her spoon but she smiled at me. I smiled back at her and tried to swallow the hard piece of bread mixed with various salads and orange marmalade. Emily was talking about something I lost interest in and Randy was nodding while backing up her mate. The others were as well and some guy clamped me on my back and said,

“Right?”

I nodded my head with an uneasy smile and turned back to my food. Mason held Alee's hand under the table while keeping an expressionless face. Overall, our table was noisy but uneasy and awkward at the same time.

It started a week ago. Suddenly Randy and Emily sat with us on the same table. They didn't tell us why but neither of them paid any attention to me. They spoke amongst themselves and asked Mason or Alee questions if they wanted. But
