The next morning, I woke with a steely resolve. Today was the day I would confront the cabinet and make it clear that my family’s murder was a priority. I couldn't afford to let anyone think I was growing soft or distracted—especially not because of Elaine and her ties to Elder Thorne.

I dressed in a dark suit that exuded authority and command. My reflection in the mirror showed a man who was ready to take on the world, every bit the alpha king I was meant to be. I straightened my tie, ensuring every detail was perfect, then headed out to the meeting room.
