Elaine’s POV

I sat there, knees tucked beneath my chin, mind racing with questions. Killian's recent behaviour was baffling. He had saved me from that creep at the party, and what happened afterwards... those mad orgasms... It was intense, unforgettable. But why this sudden softness? It didn't add up.

Killian, the Alpha King, wanting a human as his mate? It seemed impossible. He despised humans—or at least he used to. Or did he know I wasn't human anymore? My wolf stirred in the back of my mind, her voice calm and certain. "He doesn't know," she whispered.
