Chapter 39: Intense internal conflict

The following day, while I was sleeping soundly and having a wonderful dream, I was awakened by Evelyn's high-pitched scream. "Erza, let's go practice."

I was bewildered for a moment, then rubbed my eyes, just wanted to sit up, but was stopped by a strong arm. "Lie still; get some sleep."

“But Evelyn is waiting for me.” I awkwardly looked at Ryan. I wanted to sleep a little more, but I couldn't let Evelyn wait for me like that.

Ryan's arm remained motionless, and his eyes were fixed. I look at his face when he sleeps; he seems so much gentler when he's awake. Those black eyes were always cold and carried an indescribable majesty.

“Erza, can you hear me calling?” Evelyn impatiently shouted my name a few more times. “Erza…”

My back was cold; Ryan opened his eyes and stared at me, his brows furrowed slightly. “Let me handle her.”

I hastily stopped Ryan and impatiently said. “It was me asking Evelyn to wake me up; sorry for not saying this first.”
