On the way back to the house, the same thing kept going through my head over and over again. What exactly does Robert mean when he says that Damon isn't killing people because of me?

It didn't make sense to me. Damon, as far as I was aware, was not the type of person who would care about what other people expect from him because he follows his own desires.
