Chapter Two: A job

Two weeks after the last murder, a black Camry arrived at the front of a long skyscraper with a large billboard written

" HENRICH, HOME OF ENTERTAINMENT"

Scrutinizing the environment through the car windshield, Ashley smiled wickedly before she gently packed the car into the street.

She leaned on the car and waited until a man with a white hoodie entered the car but before the man could drive away, Ashley stood in front of the car windshield as a mirror and added her rosey lipstick before checking on her makeup to see if anything was ruined.

She needed to look pleasant and unrecognizable for this mission.

' This is a precarious mission but I need to stay calm and undercover ' Ashley said determinedly to herself. She can't let people know her identity.

Ever since she accepted Frederick's refusal and straddled the fence from the Pack, the goddess of the moon hasn't yet blessed the alpha with another mate as Ashley overheard from the other members of the pack.

Instead what he got was his family members trying to take away the throne from him. And because of this, the Alpha has placed her name as wanted.

All members of the pack are looking for her to be annihilated. She must perish so that another mate can be restored to the Alpha.

After seeing that everything was untouched, she checked herself out for the last time before leading the way towards the building. As she entered the building she was surprised by how expensive everything was.

The large hall, colorful lights, and expensive flowers and trees were making the industry look attractive. Everything was so sophisticated and delightful.

However, her entertainment didn't last for long because soon, wolf scents filled her nose .. terrifying her. Though the scent was strong it wasn't tempting.

This made her quickly rush towards the receptionist who was at the end of the hall. Although she knew that she couldn't be recognized because of her makeup and the perfume a witch gave to her before coming here to hide her wolf scent she still needed to be careful.

As she stood in front of the receptionist, she kept gazing trying to know who the wolf was because it seemed like he was the only wolf here and the fragrance wasn't as luring as Frederick's, so who could it be?

" Hello miss. Is there anything I can help you with?" The receptionist with her Chinese accent spoke, bringing back Ashley's focus.

" Sorry, um.." Ashley gulped trying to get herself together. Nothing is going to happen, she believes. " I want to apply for a job here. Is there any vacancy?"

The receptionist paused for a second to look at her before proceeding to check something on her computer.

" No. The only space we have here is a cleaner job"

" Just that?" Ashley was disappointed. She can't imagine herself cleaning the floor for her enemy.

" Yes miss and we already have people coming for the job"

" That's fine, I will pass…" Ashley was about to nullify the job when the wolf scent became intense, and when she darted, she saw the Alpha's beta going to the other side of the industry in a hurry.

Seeing him alone brought back dismal memories. Ashley watched with revulsion as the back of the Beta disappeared behind a door.

With acrimony, Ashley turned to the receptionist. " I will take the job"

" Okay miss. You can join those over there for an interview" The receptionist pointed towards a group of people sitting, waiting for something. " The interviewer will inform you guys on what to do"

Catching a glimpse of the huge number of humans inside the building made Ashley begin to wonder if these people knew that they had two or more hungry wolves within them waiting for an opportunity to strike.

" Oh thanks," Ashley said with a fake smile and left to join the others. After an hour of boring moments, Ashley's name was finally called upon.

" Kathie Martinez, can you come forward, please? " A British lady politely called as she welcomed Ashley with a smile. " Please take a seat"

" Thank you" Ashley appreciated as she quietly took her seat, waiting for the interview to commence.

The interviewer who was putting a huge makeup on her face coughed before she began. " So miss why do you want to work as a cleaner in this wonderful industry of ours?"

" Really?" Ashley asked with annoyance over the question because the question made no sense. " Of course I'm broke what other thing can make me work as a cleaner here? I have been cleaning for the past five years ever since I lost my husband to an accident. So cleaning is my career "

Although Ashley's manner of speaking might look impolite, the interviewer was truly touched by her story. So Cleaning was the only thing this lady has been doing since she became a widow?

" So since you have been cleaning for the past five years, can you tell me the company you have been cleaning for or have gotten some experience from?" The interviewer asked with empathy. This lady in front of her deserves something better.

" Okay. I have them with me" Ashley dug her hand into her handbag, brought out fake five companies' IDs and handed them to the interviewer.

The interviewer cross-checked the companies' IDs one by one before ceasing at the one that caught her eye.

" You worked for Maverick company?" The woman sounded surprised but she didn't know that Ashley had been preparing for this for the past two weeks.

" Yes. That was the last place I worked before coming here"

" What brought you out? Because that was a great company with good pay " the woman asked with concern. She couldn't understand why someone like her could leave such a good job with good pay to come here.

" I like to work here that's why I quit my current job" Ashley answered with all seriousness making the interviewer believe her.

The interviewer looked at Ashley strangely and after some minutes of silence, the interviewer brought something from the cabinet and gave it to her. " Congratulations. You got the job. Your rules and regulations and everything you need are inside that letter. Please read carefully"

"Thank you so much ma'am " Ashley collected the letter with a smile because she never thought that it was going to be this easy. " I shall take my leave now. Thank you once again"

" And don't forget the work is done by shift" the woman with white hair reminded.

" Okay" Ashley stood up to leave but before she could cross the doorway, her body immediately collided with a hard chest and almost slipped before a hand with large veins caught her by the hand… preventing her from falling.

" Watch where you are going, lady"
