Chapter Nineteen

MAX’ POV

Sometimes, it took a while for me to believe the turn of events of the past weekend. One moment, I am neck deep in frustration about my inability to find my mate and the next; she’s spending the night at my house. It seemed surreal, all too good to be true.

After the events of the previous night, Alexis had slept for nine hours straight. I had lane in bed with her for seven hours, just staring at her and keeping watch over her. Her ethereal beauty had pulled me in and kept me glued to her side; plus her petite and fragile frame woke something deep within me that increased my devotion to protect her.

I’d gotten up to take a bath, change clothes and then prepare some food for her. I had taken the liberty of preparing dinner and not my caterer. Like I said, Alexis awoke something deep in me that I didn’t even know existed.
