Chapter 23

Alpha Axel's POV

As I decided to go hunting alone, I walked down the hall, my mind preoccupied with thoughts of the day's pursuits. Suddenly, I saw the queen emerging from her room. My heart raced as I tried to turn back, but it was too late. She had already spotted me.

"Ah, there you are," she said, her voice commanding. "Come back here, I insist. Join me for breakfast."

I hesitated, knowing the implications of being alone with the queen, but her gaze brooked no argument. "I... I suppose I could join you," I replied, my voice uncertain.

As we sat in the dining hall, Athena entered, apologizing for her lateness. I averted my eyes, unable to meet hers after what had transpired between us the night before. She greeted me, and I grumbled in response.

"Is everything alright?" Athena asked, concern evident in her voice. "Do you need to talk about anything?"

I knew exactly what she was referring to, but I couldn't let the queen catch wind of the fact that I had spent the night with Athena.
