Chapter 24

Racheal's POV

As I woke up and headed downstairs, the pain from my wound seemed to have subsided, and I could feel myself getting better with each step.

As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I found my mom in the kitchen, with Hilary and Hailey busily assisting her in preparing breakfast.

"Morning, Mom," I greeted, a small smile forming on my face.

Mom turned towards me, a mixture of relief and concern in her eyes. "Good morning, darling! How are you feeling today?"

"Much better, Mom," I replied, relieved. "My wound seems to be healing up nicely, and I can walk better now."

"That's great to hear," she said, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Why don't you sit and wait for breakfast to be ready? You've been through a lot."

I nodded and took a seat at the kitchen table, my gaze turning towards Hilary and Hailey's activities. They were carefully attending to the sizzling pans on the stove, their faces reflecting an air of concentration.
