Chapter 75

In the middle of the night, the moonlight filtering through the window of Axel's room, Racheal stirred in her sleep as a faint knocking echoed through the room.

She blinked groggily, reaching out to check the time on the nightstand beside the bed. It read past two am.

Racheal nudged Axel gently, her voice barely above a whisper, "Axel, did you hear that knocking?"

Axel's eyes fluttered open, his brows furrowed in confusion. "Yeah, I did. Who could be knocking at this hour?"

The knocking sounded again, more urgent this time, and both of them glanced towards the door. Without a word, Axel got out of bed and made his way to the door.

As he opened it, a palace guard stood at attention in the hallway, his armor glinting in the dim light.

The guard spoke with a grave tone, "Apologies for the disturbance, but your presence is urgently required in the infirmary, Alpha Axel."

Axel exchanged a look with Racheal, concern etched on his face. "What happened? Is everything alright?"
