Chapter 01- True colors

Emily.

I knew the exact day my life began crumbling into pieces and everything I'd built and shared fell apart and disappeared like dust.

The fated mate thingy wasn't well known among the entire wolf pack that exists in the world. In fact, there was no such thing as a fated mate.

The day I found my mate- Alpha Tyler, I was 18 back then and I had just packed into a new town for college. Tyler was the son of Alpha Henry, a notorious Mafia leader who was feared by so many people.

He was a dark man with so much dark energy surrounding him.

His mother had escaped the deathful claws of Alpha Henry, and Tyler was left in the care of his father who was an imperfect man. I always wondered how he grew up in such a home.

Despite all of these flaws, I still loved him.

I was always there for him. During the tough time, during the heartbreaking times, and during the times he always needed someone to hug.

Tyler was smart. A tall young handsome man, every lady in town had eyes on him, but they all hated me to their bones because he had eyes only for me.

When I turned 23, he was already 26. Tyler and I decided to tie the knots and claim each other. His father was dead already and it was time to take over as the next alpha of the Midnight pack. He had all the potential- he was stronger, smarter, and well-trained to become an alpha.

Once he took over, he wasted no time in claiming me and making me his Luna.

It felt like everything was planned out by the moon goddess already, and that I had already found a home of my own with a sweet and loving husband.

3 years after our marriage, Tyler and I were still living our best life and the pack was prospering wonderfully. We were always there for each other and since I was Luna, I played my part well.

Everything was going really fine, but there was just one problem.

I did have a little pup yet.

Of course, this didn't bother Tyler, but I was bothered about it.

There was no way I could fully become Luna if I wasn't capable of bearing him a little Alpha.

"It's fine baby. It's not too late, and the moon goddess is on our side. Pup or no pup, we have each other and that's all that matters."

His words were always strong enough to keep me calm, but not every single day.

Now, when and how it all started,

Another year passed by, but one day, a middle-aged lady came into our home and claimed she was his mother. I had doubts, but the very moment Tyler saw her, he ran toward her and embraced her.

Who was I to question it? Maybe she truly was his mother.

Now, we had one more in the family, and every day seemed to be getting better. I thought I could please my mother-in-law, and since Tyler just found her, I allowed mother and son to spend almost every day together.

During this period, I was busy taking care of the pack and keeping the peace. It was tiring because I didn't have Tyler by my side, but I understood that he needed to fully bond with his mother again.

A case was brought to me, and it was about two wolves cheating on their partner. I didn't know why but such cases always infuriate me so much.

I stare at the male, then at the lady.

Were their spouses not enough? Of course, they were claimed already. How the hell would their partner feel?

"How would you feel if your wife did the same to you? Cheating with another man?" I questioned the man on his knees. His eyes were pinned to the floor, and there was no response from him.

"Answer me you fucking fool!" I yelled, hitting the arm of my chair hard.

"P..pain," he responded.

"How about you lady? Aren't you claimed?" I questioned her.

I could hear her sobs, but I didn't feel sympathy at all.

"He abuses me every day, and I can feel it when he's in the arms of another woman. He treats me like I'm nobody. I lost a pup in his hands and he threatened to kill my family if I said a word about it to anyone."

I was stunned. That was impossible. What kind of man is he? I didn't want to believe what she had just said, but I needed to find out if it was true or not.

My final judgment, I banished the male from our pack and sentenced him to be a rogue.

I got back home tired and weak, but Tyler was seated next to his mother. They were both laughing and chatting. It did make me feel good to see them making up for the good times, but most times I felt he hardly gave me time.

A week passed and Tyler was still always busy with his mother, while I was left to handle the pack's affairs alone. The lady had been banished while her husband was sentenced to death.

I didn't want that for her, but it was Tyler's decision and I couldn't go against it.

"You could have been lenient on her Tyler, she's hurt, and being abused isn't so easy."

He turned to me with cold eyes.

"Cheating is cheating, and I won't condone such." He answered. I stayed quiet while he moved closer to me. "You're stressed out baby." He circled his arms around me and held me tight. "I know I've been too busy to notice you're trying your best, but…"

"I understand Tyler, and I'm not complaining." Honestly, those words just rushed out, but they weren't from my heart. I couldn't be jealous of his mom stealing all of his time, she was his mom after all. He rubbed my hair and kissed my forehead

His hand went to the mark on my neck, and I shut my eyes tight.

For two months, he hasn't touched me. I wanted him to tonight. He slowly kissed me, and I didn't waste any time reciprocating the kiss. I finally had my husband back, and that was all I needed.

The next morning, I woke up without Tyler by my side. I knew he would be with his mom, or maybe he was handling something urgent in the pack.

I rose to my feet and quickly took a shower. Once I was done, I picked up something nice and wore it. It was black jean pants and a navy blue top.

I packed my hair at the back with a bun and got ready to leave. As I took the stairs and down to the living room, I met her- Tyler's mother.

"Good morning mom." I greeted her but got no reply.

I thought she didn't hear me, so I decided to greet her again. "Mom, good morning." Honestly, I haven't felt so comfortable around her, and I always had this feeling she just isn't who she claims she is. There was this feeling of hate in her eyes, and I could sense it.

"Mom?"

"Oh you fool, I'm not deaf okay."

What the… I was shocked. Did she just call me a fool? I was mad and I wasn't going to take that from her. This is my home, and I have done absolutely nothing wrong to be called a fool by anyone.

"Have I done anything wrong?" I questioned, trying not to lose my patience for Tyler.

She rose on her feet and took steps closer to me. She gave me one hard glare like she was irritated with my presence in her son's life.

"Bear a grandson. Give my son a little Alpha you witch and maybe I'll respond to your greetings every morning you barren slut."

That was it, she had crossed her limit and I wasn't going to take the insults from her. She not only reminded me of the fact that I didn't have a little pup yet, but she also called me barren.

"That's enough!" I yelled at her when she wouldn't stop throwing insults at me.

"That's enough mom. How dare you come to my home and call me names. He's your son, yes, but he's my husband and I have even more rights in my home. I won't ever tolerate you calling me names in my own home. You should go back to wherever you came from because Tyler was living fine without you in his life." I fired back at her, breathing heavily when I was done.

My hands were balled and I could see pure hatred in her eyes. I knew she never liked me since the very first day she came, but I always thought I could put things right and get her to like me.

I tried, but now, I was done trying.

She raised her hand, and slapped me immediately, making my face turn white. I couldn't cry, I wasn't going to give her what she wanted- to see me weak.

"You're just an old rag occupying space in my son's life. I'll make sure to take you out of his life."

She yelled. My eyes were burning red with rage, and I wasn't going to just let this slide. I was done being the good and calm wife here.

"You deserved everything you got from your late husband… and even worse." I know I shouldn't have said that, but my emotions took the better part of me.

As she raised her hand to slap me again, I saw it coming so I held it in the air.

"Don't you dare!"
