The jail was on the other side of town from my house. Two guards and a sherrif were there, waiting for my arrival. I pulled the small sports car up into one of the parking spots and hopped out, lifting my heavy body out of the low riding car. I swung open the heavy duty door, walking in under the bright floruscent lights. The hallway was simple, green tiled walls, a few different photographs on the wall. I stepped into the Sherrifs office as him and two others were sitting at his desk, drinking coffee. He looked up when he heard my feet. "Alpha, sir. Good morning" He tipped his coffee cup towards me, and I nodded in return. "Where is she?" I was in no mood for small chat this morning. I wanted to get back home before Stella woke up. He nudged his head in the direction behind him, pointing towards the drunk tank windows. There she was, sitting against the wall, one wrist cuffed and hanging from the bar that was about two inches above her head. She looked up when she heard the She
Stella POV We had spent a few hours identifying all of the forsaken bodies left out in the woods after my Fathers attack. He had retreated when he realized that his pack was losing quickly. Unfortunately, Rebecca had distracted me and I was unable to go after him. Trevor ordered out and had some chinese food delivered to the house, and asked everybody to leave except for the few that were standing guard outside the house. He had sent Sam and Emily back home with a few guards until they were over in their pack lands. It was nice to have the house to ourselves. We sat on the couch watching a movie, snacking on each others chosen entrees. "What do you want to do about Rebecca?" He asked me with a mouth full of chow mein noodles. I rolled my eyes at him, pointing to my mouth. He kept chewing. Rebecca hadn't really crossed my mind much this evening. I wanted to pretend like our lives were somewhat normal. I worried that they would never be normal, that we would forever be fighting som
Trevor POV I was driving over 100mph to get back to the house. It was late, and I was at one of the border checks for an issue with a few wolves trying to cross that weren't Bloodsuns and had no excuse as to why they were crossing. Right now, we weren't letting anybody in, and we weren't taking any chances. I had left Kyle at the house with Stella, knowing I could trust him with her. But when I heard him call out to her through the mindlink, I panicked. "Stella!" I called out to her through the mindlink. No response. She had killed a random man in our bedroom, apparently. A million different scenarios were running through my head. I shouldn't have left her, I thought. I whipped the large black SUV into the driveway, ramming through the gates before they were opened all the way. The tires skidded to a hault as I pulled up to the front of the house, jumping out without barely putting it into park. The front door was wide open. Foot prints led up to the house. No guards were around.
“I’m okay”Stella called out to me as I crossed over the territory line. Her white wolf fur blended in with the snow, but her eyes gave her away.“Go to the house. NOW” I screamed at everybody who was still in the woods. They all scattered and took off running. I nudged Stella with my head and she took off running. She was fast. I almost had a hard time keeping up with her. She was healing quickly, I could tell. Once she shifted, the healing process would go much faster. We got about two miles from the border line when she began to slow down and stopped. I shifted back as soon as I noticed she did, looking around to make sure nobody was around to see her naked. Enough men had seen her naked tonight. The thought of them seeing her like that enraged me. “Are you hurt? What’s wrong?” I asked her. She stared at me, her eyes still bright. Before I could ask anything else, she grabbed ahold of me around my waist and pulled me into her, kissing me. I tangled my hands in her long curls, pul
Stella POV I had wanted to keep the news of the arrangment a secret. I didn't feel like it was something that Trevor needed to know because I never thought it would come to light. Jasper was a nice enough guy. We went to high school together and hung out after with groups of mutual friends. He knew of the arrangement before I did though, and spilled the beans about it one night at a drunken bon fire. I was furious that my Father didn't even tell me about it. When I found out, I was 21. I knew that I had years to get out of it and didn't think too much of it. I figured once I was Alpha, I would get out of it and everything would be fine. But Jaspers Father had promised my Father a large sum of money for the marriage and mating of the two of us. They had gone through with the arrangement ceremony without Jasper or I present. If I was still part of the South pack, I would be forced to marry and mark him. The thought of not having Trevor made me sick to my stomach. Collin had left to ru
Trevor POV I sat at my desk with Councilman Parker across from me. He had come in, rushing over to Stella and embracing her. I could tell the action had caught her off guard some, not expecting it. He was dressed casually, jeans and an army green colored half zip up sweater with brown boots. "I appreciate you seeing me on such short notice, Councilman." "Ray, please." He smiled, crossing his leg over his other and resting his hands on his ankle. "Okay, Ray. Listen, let's just get right to it. Alpha Jones is out of control. I understand that the council put some restrictions on their pack land and businesses. I agree with it, but there is something else we need to discuss." "He's handing the position down." He nodded. He knew why he was here and why I wanted to see him. "Right. One, he hasn't gone through any of the right ceremonies to do so, or if he has, it has been under the radar and not by tradition. And two, he has no children to hand it down to, so who the hell is it go
Stella POV I washed up my hands afterwards and started to cook some bacon and eggs in case anybody woke up hungry, but everybody slept in. About an hour had gone by since Trevor and I decided to mess around in the office. He had taken a shower and returned to the office to do some more work while I relaxed with a cup of coffee outside on the patio. It was still snowing, but the sunshine beams were hitting the snow and making it sparkle, which I always loved. I looked over my shoulder to see Collin and Silas in the kitchen with Coraline pouring herself a cup of coffee. Kyle had come out from the guest bedroom and was laying on the couch with his broken leg propped up. We would have to find him a mate soon. He wasn't healing quick enough and it was starting to worry all of us. Even the pack doctor suggested he mark a new mate. I knew that was easier said than done, but he seemed to not mind the idea of marking June. I decided I would go and talk to her later today. I hadn't seen her in
Stella POV Seven months later: "Can I get you anything else, Luna?" A young blonde girl asked as she handed me my iced tea and chips and salsa. I sat at a round table with June and Coraline in a new Mexican restaurant in town. I shook my head, smiling up at her as she turned around and walked away. I watched her tall, slim figure turn the corner around the counter and into the kitchen. "I wish my body looked like that" I pouted, shoving a chip with a huge pile of salsa on top of it into my mouth. Coraline and June both laughed at me. "You literally just had three babies two months ago. Three, Stella. Do you want me to count for you?" June laughed again, her mouth stuffed with chips. I shook my head, shooting her an evil stare. It was hard to forget that I was a Mom now, seeing how my delivery was kind of hectic. Trevor had asked me as I was putting a few stuffed animals up on a shelf on the wall in the nursery "Are you feeling okay?" My giant belly was hanging out of my shirt and
