2 years later.Todd pressed the intercom in his office and few seconds later the door to his office opened and Jen walked briskly into the office looking all professional and said “boss, you called" Todd who didn’t look up from his paper work said “how is the recruitment going, I need a new PA as soon as possible" Jen cleared her throat quietly and said “the interview is slated for tomorrow and from the list of applicants you vetted, I believe quiet a number of them are qualified for the work” Todd looked up suddenly, his grey eyes looking into her slightly brown ones as he said “I see, well, being qualified won’t cut it this time, I want to host the interview myself" Jen’s eyes widen but she quickly hid her reaction as she said “okay sir, I’ll let the HR department know you’ll be presiding over the interview” with that she walked out of the office and let out her breath, then she grabbed her phone and dialled her friend’s number, as soon as the call connect she said “girl, you’ll bet

“How did it go” Jen asked as soon as Amber walk in through the door, she was eager to hear how her friend performed, Amber fidgeted on her feet and bit her lower lip as she usually does when she is nervous, Jen studied her friend closely and said “that bad huh" Amber quickly shake her head saying “no, no, no, I mean I think I did okay in there but I might have embarrassed myself” Jen looked her her friend from the top of her head to her toe and exclaimed, her mouth widely opened from the shock “Amb!! Look at your rumpled top, how did you end up with a rumpled top for an interview" “Well, I didn’t plan to wear a rumpled cloth but during the bus ride, there was a woman with a cute baby who spilled water on me, not on purpose though but it got my clothe rumpled and I was running out of time and couldn’t go back home to change" Amber said and took a deep breath “do you think I can still get the job" Amber asked feeling downcast, Jen went to stand beside her friend, the two are of the same

Amber walked briskly out of the hospital, though she as always been a goody two shoe but sometimes she wishes she could also be indifferent to some things and turn a blind eye but she couldn’t, she had to spend almost all her saving for Ann's treatment and there was a high possibility Ann would go back to her gambling as soon as she gets out of the hospital, why couldn’t her foolish sister put make something out of her life and most importantly why was she making her own life more difficult by always bringing debt to her, if only she could say no to her sister but she knows she is the only family member Ann has and she couldn’t say no to her, her phone rang and she picked up, “Hello, Amber Curt speaking” she said and listened while the person on the other side of the phone talked” Amber beamed, her bright smile made her blue eyes lit up as she said “thank you" and hung up, she twirled around and laughed hysterically like a man person, some people passing by almost mistook her one but

Amber arrived at the office at 7:00am and went straight to the HR department to learn more about her work duties, she was assigned an office not too far from the CEO, she was to provided him coffee in the morning, get him lunch, attend meeting with him to take note, learn about his work and sit in on some of the meetings he may not be able to attend, she was also to do any other task assigned by the chairman, she rushed to her newly assigned office, dropped her bag and rushed to get coffee, she went to the company’s kitchenette where she met Lauretta, she was a curvy woman but not obese according to the general belief that foodies are always obese, Lauretta was very friendly which makes it easier for Amber to learn of Mr Todd's coffee preference, they chatted for a while and Lauretta told Amber to rush back at 7:25am as Mr Todd will be arriving by 7:30am so Amber grabbed his coffee and rushed back, she was just about going into his office to drop the coffee when Todd stepped out of th

Meeting Petra.At the general Monday meetings, the next week Amber resumed, there was a lady in attendant who Amber had not met before, she was a contract staff and only comes when needed, she handles the painting and some other finishes job for the company, while the chief technical officer gave a run down of the progress of work and the next phase target, Petra who is the strange person to Amber raised her hand to say something, she asked when the screeding on the block of flats will be completed and when the painting can commence, the technical officer answered her and the meeting continued, Amber leaned toward Jen who was sitting beside and asked quietly, “Jen, who is the lady there" she asked as she pointed towards Petra in a concealed way, Jen leaned in and said to her “that’s Petra, I’ll give you full detail after the meeting" Amber nodded and sat upright, after the meeting Petra went into the CEO’s office, though she was a contract staff she was also one of the shareholders.
