Chapter 5

"I can't believe you're actually cutting it," Charlie said as she carefully pulled half my hair into a long braid. The other half already braided and resting over my shoulder.

"Yeah, I can't even remover the last time it was short," I said as I played with one of the braids. I felt a bit nervous to cut my hair off. The feature I held the most pride in, but I felt it necessary. My hair was carried with it painful memories of rough fingertips and harsh yanks. It also carried my pride, and Charlie's light brushes, but I had a new pride now, and a new love to focus on.

Not only that, but if this plan was successful, then hopefully none of the pack would realize my hair had been chopped. So, when they started to send out descriptions of me, they'd be wrong.

"Same. Hope you won't look to ugly," Charlie hummed. I rolled my eyes, but didn't reply, allowing a heavy silence as she finished the braid. Wordlessly she grabbed the scissors, and gave me one last look in the mirror. I nodded at her
