Chapter 7 : Surprise

Chapter 7

I was walking around while smiling widely. The visitors already left, while my brothers had some errands to do. My parents and I were the only ones here. They are talking to the in-charge manager to settle the payment for the venue and the food. Christine and Vera also left with their family. At first, they wanted to stay with me but I said that they should go 'cause it was already late.

This day was so memorable. I'm just a bit sad because he didn't come. I'm wondering what is he doing right now. Is he really busy? He didn't even text me to say Happy Birthday. I can't get mad at him. I'm not in a position to act like that.

I sat down on the Bermuda grass. It's so dark here, the post from afar was the only one that gives light here.

I was sitting here for almost an half hour. I'm just enjoying the view since it was so peaceful and very relaxing. When the wind blows up, I immediately close my eyes and feel the breeze of the wind. My hair blew away by the wind. 

Nang tumigil naman ang hangin ay napagpasyahan kong imulat na ang aking mata.

But I was stunned by what happened. As I slowly opened my eyes, the surroundings around me brighten up. The different colors of led lights make my lips part. I feel like I'm in Paradise full of so wonderful views.

"Wow," I muttered.

I was busy admiring the view when I suddenly felt a cold thing on my neck. 

Out of curiosity, I handed the thing and I realized that it was a necklace with a heart pendant. It is different from the necklace I was wearing earlier. I was about to turn around to see who is the person behind me when he suddenly spoke.

"Happy Birthday, baby." I stiffened.

That voice!

"T-Theseus?" hindi makapaniwalang sabi ko nang makita siya sa harap ko.

He smiled. ''Yeah, it's me."

"Are you busy earlier?" I asked.

He nodded. "Study?" he shook his head.

He's not busy with his study, from what or should I say with whom he becomes busy? I suddenly felt jealous. Is he busy with the same girl I saw before?

Stop thinking that, Dahlia! They are only friends! 

I sighed, maybe I should be asked him first and stopped overthinking. I don't have the right to stop him, so I shouldn't act like a jealous girlfriend here.

"Can I ask, why you become busy?" I fearlessly asked.

I avoided his gaze when he smirked at me.

"I was busy with someone I liked," he answered which break my heart into pieces.

That hurts, bro.

I looked away. "Then why are you here?" I asked him using my soft voice.

"You don't want me here?" his brows furrowed.

"Of course, I'm happy that you were here, but you shouldn't have to go here if you're busy with someone." he looked at me and chuckled.

"You're so cute." namula naman ako kaya nag-iwas ako ng tingin.

“I’m not cute!” I started to feel irritated.

I was stunned when he hold my chin making me look at him. "I think you misunderstood what I said." my forehead creased.

"What?" naguguluhan ko siya na tinignan.

"Silly, you thought I'm busy with another girl huh?" he let go of my chin and guided me to sit down on bermuda grass.

He sat beside me. "Let me clarify what I said earlier, yes I was busy but not with the girl you think, or anyone else." He looked at me intently.

''I was busy admiring a gorgeous lady from afar." my heart started to beat so fast.

"The way she frowned, smiled at the people around her, and watched her annoyed expression." he continues.

It is me? Or am I just assuming things that much?

"Yes, it was you.'' I stiffened.

Me? I can feel the butterfly in my stomach because of an unfamiliar feeling that he caused me. If he was there earlier why would he not have shown up to me?

"How come? I didn't even see you." I said.

"I was there after you arrived." nanlaki ang mata ko sa gulat

“Huh?! Really?”

Is he joking? But he looks really serious! I can't imagine him waiting for so long, I mean he's not the type of person that will waste time on waiting.

"You should go with your family earlier, when they greets me and bought a present."

"Well, I don't want your attention only for me. It's your birthday. I wanted you to enjoy it with your family, and friends, with your important visitors. I saw how happy you are earlier and I'm happy that you are happy too." he smiled.

Malapad akong napangiti. He’s so sweet!

"T-thank you, and sorry for being immature a while ago."

He nodded. We become silent for a minute. When I remembered the lighting and the necklace I face him.

"I love the view, it is so beautiful. I guess it was from you too." he chuckled.

"Yeah, I'm glad you like it. How about the necklace do you like it?" I nodded.

"Thank you, I love it. It was so unique, I think this was the first time I saw this design?"

He didn't say anything. He's just staring at me with no emotion at all on his face. I nervously looked at him. Did I say something wrong?

"Are you mad?" he didn't respond.

I sighed. I was about to stand up but he grab my arm and make me sit on his lap. He stared at me and smiled a little which makes my heart throb so fast. His smile makes me fall more! How can I look at other men if he's the only man that I want?

He was about to say something when his phone rang. I get the chance to stand up and move away. He looks so pissed when he answered the call.

After a minute, my phone rang too. It was mom. I didn't answer her call. She texted me asking where I am so, so I said that I was touring around. She tells me that we're going home and I tell them to wait for me for a minute.

"My parents were looking for me now," I said when he was done talking.

He sighed. "It's already late, you should go now." I nodded.

"How about you?"

"I have a car. Don't mind me." tumango na lang ako.

''Thanks again, bye. Drive safely." I wave at him then walk away.

Hindi pa man ako nakakalayo ay laking gulat ko nang bigla ako nitong iharap sa kanya at hilahin para yakapin.

''Happy Birthday again, baby.'' he whispered then kissed my forehead softly.

He let go of me and walk away. I was stiffened on what he did.

My lips parted.

I smiled.

A very great day indeed.
